1. Nigerian Senate on Tuesday passed the Bill on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters between Nigeria and other Foreign States. Senate President, Bukola Saraki explained that the anti-money laundering legislation was a key component of President Muhammadu Buhari’s war on corruption agenda and will prevent individuals from escaping prosecution by fleeing to another country.

2. A condemned prisoner, Rabi Ismail, who escaped from custody in Hadejia prison on 16th December 2011 has been recaptured by the Nigeria Prisons Service and men of the Department of State Services (DSS). Prisons spokesman, Francis Enobore, said the prisoner was sentenced to death by hanging for culpable homicide by a High Court in Kano on the 5th of January, 2005, but escaped in 2011.

3. Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki yesterday insisted that his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari remains cordial despite reports that the two are living like ‘cat and dog’. Saraki cleared the air when the National Executive of the Islamic group, Jamaatu Izalatul Bidiah Wa Ikamatus Sunnali (JIBWS) led by its President, Sheikh Mohammed Sani Yahaya Jingiri visited him at the National Assembly.

4. The Nigeria Police Force, on Tuesday arraigned a 50-year-old man, Ahmed Echodo, before a Magistrate’s Court in Abuja for allegedly misleading the police to conduct a raid at a building belonging to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Friday. Security operatives had earlier ransacked Ekweremadu’s building penultimate Friday morning following information accusing the occupants of criminal offences.

5. The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has opined that the All Progressives Congress has no electoral value. Wike who alleged that there was an ongoing plan with security agencies to rig elections in 2019, said the poor performance of the party within the last two years had devalued it, adding that Nigerians had since discovered that the party was full of empty promises with no implementation.

6. The coroner in charge of the inquest constituted by the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola to probe the cause of death of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Olusegun Ayilara, has blamed the lawmakers death on drugs overdose. Ayilara, while giving his verdict on Tuesday ruled out poison as the cause of the late Senator’s death.

7. The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has rated the level of compliance to the sit-home protest declared by its leader as perfect, expressing happiness over the level of compliance in the exercise. The media and publicity secretary of the group, Emma Powerful congratulated Biafrans for observing the exercise ordered by its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, saying it was a feat never achieved in the history of Biafra struggle.

8. Wife of Nigeria’s President, Aisha Buhari, on Tuesday departed the shores of the country for the United Kingdom to see her ailing husband 23 days after he left for further medical consultations. In a brief statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Mrs Buhari, Adebisi Olumide Ajayi, the president’s wife is expected to spend some time with her husband.

9. The Ministry of Women Affairs, Tuesday received the 82 Chibok girls for further rehabilitation. Receiving the girls who were recently released by Boko Haram insurgents, the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, said they will undergo four months rehabilitation in the properties available in the Ministry Women Affairs headquarters.
10. The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) on Tuesday announced the suspension of all students union activities. The development followed the order on students to vacate the campus.
